Thank you to everyone who supported and helped out at this year’s festival, it proved to be a huge success. The weather played its part too and great fun was had by all. We are currently updating our festival profile which will be placed on the web early next week. So keep an eye out.

A Public meeting will be held in Cill bhride at 8pm on Thursday 2nd Sept to discuss how we can improve on this years festival to make 2011 even better. Your support would be appreciated as without you we couldn’t make it a success.

Get together Annual Outing:

The Social Activities Group organised a day out for the senior citizens of the community.  This year the trip was to Genison Brewery Midleton, fota island.  We filled the 54 seater bus.  First stop was Corbett Court for tea and scones.  Then travelled to brewery got full guided tour of the Old factory which proved to be an interesting experience.  We were able to see the Whiskey at various stages of fermentation from 5yrs to 20yrs ish.  Everybody got a comp drink before leaving and something was very interesting was the Whiskey tasting that 8 members participated in.  They were rewarded certificates for their effort.  We then travelled onto Fota Island, where Fr Hayes celebrated mass at an Altar which was constructed out of trunks of tree under a tree in the park.  We were joined by some of the visitors to the park for Mass on the day.  Everybody really enjoyed a leisurely stroll around the park taking in all the sights and animals.  We had lunch in the café, on leaving there we returned to Corbett Court where we had our evening dinner and on the bus home we had singing music story telling to entertain us on the way home.  The weather held up for the day adding to the enjoyment.  Many thanks to Martha Potter in the Hospital and the local Social Activities organising group for all their help in making this such a wonderful day and also to Fr Hayes who enhanced the enjoyment.
